Saving My Superhero

New Vale City

Superheroes, Citizens, and Villains, oh my! New Vale City, once a prosperous village now a thriving city in a valley surrounded by forest and mountains. The super-made canal divides North and South Vale resulting in an economic gulf between the rich and poor citizens. The Super Citizen Association (SCA) was established when a significant number of powerful, prestigious supers to organize and protect the interests of New Vale’s citizens. Villains, henchmen, petty crime abound and only through the help of superheroes can the city maintain peace and prosperity.

And the one thing holding the SCA back? Childcare.

Enter Carrie Mahon and her remarkable ability to connect with children. She doesn’t see her value, but the SCA does, and soon, the residents of this complicated city will, too.

Carrie and her mother live in a red zone, a dangerous area close to the New Vale Super Prison. Luckily, they’re poor and have nothing worth robbing, so petty criminals leave them alone. Carrie is nothing special—just ask her estranged father—but the one thing she’s good at? Childcare. She loves children and children love her. She always seems to know just what to do or say. And when you’re dealing with children who can fly or light things on fire, that’s a good skill to have. Now if she could stop thinking about the sexy superhero who saved her and makes her hope for things she doesn’t think she deserves, that would be great, thanks!

Lucas Stanton, aka Iron Shield, left New Vale City with his younger brother three years ago to escape the stifling company, cough, his ex, cough. While visiting the city, he rescues a damsel in distress who is unlike any damsel he’s encountered before. She’s sassy, even in the face of danger, resourceful, and genuine. But the biggest surprise of all? His nephew, a child who only likes his Uncle Lucas and his mother, LOVES her. And Lucas is intrigued. She’d be perfect to run the superhero daycare initiative the SCA hopes to establish, and maybe, just maybe, she could save him, too.
